Maipo Valley, Chile

Ana Salomó

Ana is part of a new generation of young women changing the face of winemaking across the world. After extensive studies in Agronomy, she completed her University degree in 1994 and worked as an Assistant Professor of Vinification and Wine Analysis at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. She then struck out for an unlikely place—India—where she was a Winemaking Assistant for a "methode champenoise" producer.

After returning home, Ana gained invaluable experience across Chile's diverse wine regions from Curico to Casablanca in posts for Santa Rita, Miguel Torres, and Santa Carolina. Ana then found a true paradise at Vina Quebrada de Macul in the Maipo Valley. In this historic region, she made wines from special hillside vineyards collaborating with "the master" Ignacio Recabarren, Chile's most respected and renowned winemaker. More recently, she worked alongside Patrick Valette, one of France's top talents.

To broaden her horizons, Ana has worked harvests at Williams Selyem and Talisman Winery in California. When she is not making wine, Ana enjoys oil painting and leading tastings around the world, sharing her love of beautiful wines.
